Chibi-Robo amiibo Review

Written by DDD&Watch

Chibi-Robo, the robot who does chores, recently had his first platformer released, and it comes with its own amiibo. This amiibo is a great addition to anybody's collection, but it doesn't work with Super Smash Bros.

Appearance
I think that Chibi-Robo is one of the most accurate amiibo. Even though it doesn't have much detail, it looks just like Chibi-Robo. When it hasn't been in your hands for a while, it actually feels a lot like metal, and his cord feels just like an older computer cord. The texture on his base is nice, and the dark red on the bottom of the base is a nice change from the black on the Super Smash Bros. amiibo. The only problem I have with this amiibo is that his hands are connected to little black circles on the plug, which aren't supposed to be there. You can only see it if you look closely though.

Rarity
It is almost impossible NOT to find Chibi-Robo. But, he is only available at Amazon, starting on the 30th. He is available with Chibi-Robo! Zip Lash at all stores right now. It costs $40 U.S. dollars and it isn't very hard to find, where we live it's at every single store that sells amiibo. The stand-alone Chibi-Robo amiibo isn't very rare, and is still available for pre-order. The bundled Chibi-Robo amiibo has a shortened box, so the stand-alone version might be better if you want a more uniform in-box collection.
Functionality
Chibi-Robo! Zip Lash has a lot that you can do with the Chibi-Robo amiibo. It is basically the only game you can use Chibi-Robo with though.
  • You can get a fortune once per day. If it's worth enough points, you get a Chibi-Smash attack, which lets you destroy all enemies on the screen
  • You can write your score to your Chibi-Robo amiibo to make it level up. This writes data to the amiibo.
  • You can use Super Chibi-Robo to have ten times more Watts and move and attack faster. The amount of times you can use this per day depends on what level your Chibi-Robo amiibo is.
  • You can unlock Chibi-Capsules. You pay fifty coins to get one Chibi-Capsule from a vending machine. There are different rarities of figures you can get from Chibi-Capsules (much like amiibo), and you are able to find rarer Chibi-Capsules depending on what level your Chibi-Robo amiibo is. You can also unlock figures of Chibi-Robo in poses based off of certain characters of amiibo you have. 3rd party amiibo like Sonic or Mega Man don't unlock different poses.
The only problem with the amiibo functionality in Chibi-Robo! Zip Lash is that they could have included most of the things that you unlock with the amiibo, such as Chibi-Capsules or Chib-Smashes, in the game already. Using the amiibo does make it a lot more fun though. It also gives you a game where you can use the Chibi-Robo amiibo.

The front of Chibi-Robo. For some reason he's not facing straight when he's in the box.
The right side. Chibi-Robo just looks so amazing.
The back of Chibi-Robo. The plug on his head is very detailed, but you can't see it very good in the picture.
The left side of Chibi-Robo. His legs look a little weird, like their squished, but maybe it's just me.
The top of his base. It's not fuzzy.

Conclusion

Chibi-Robo is a very high quality amiibo, and if you don't collect just Smash Bros. amiibo, or if you don't even collect amiibo, he is amazing quality. But besides for Chibi-Robo! Zip Lash, he basically has no use in games.

Good Luck amiibo Hunting!
