Super Mario Maker, formerly known as Mario Maker, has been shown to be compatible with amiibo, as well as having two amiibo of its own. Super Mario Maker introduces a new item called the Mystery Mushroom, which will change you into a random character that you have a costume for. You can unlock costumes by tapping an amiibo of that character to the Wii U gamepad, but you will be able to unlock costumes other ways too.
There will also be two variations of an 8-bit Mario amiibo, which when tapped on the Wii U gamepad during a level makes everything larger and Mario-themed.
