Everyone has been waiting for the Shovel Knight amiibo. Now, it actually has a release date. Shovel Knight will NOT be coming out this year in North America as the amiibo website said. Instead, it will be coming out next year, on January 8, because of supply issues. It will be coming out in Europe on the 11th of this month. Yacht Club Games has advised to not import the Shovel Knight amiibo or pay higher than MSRP for it, because there will be plenty of stock on release. The in-game amiibo features won't be available in your area unless the Shovel Knight amiibo is our, so you can't import the amiibo and use the amiibo features early.The amiibo website says that the Shovel Knight amiibo will be compatible with future Yacht Club Games and Nintendo games, so Shovel Knight isn't the only game the amiibo will be compatible with. The Shovel Knight amiibo will add many, many things to Shovel Knight.
- The Shovel Knight amiibo will let you customize Shovel Knight's appearance, and will let you unlock new relics and abilities. This custom Shovel Knight is saved to the amiibo, and can be used between Wii U and 3DS.
- Only on the Wii U, the amiibo will let you play two player co-op multiplayer, and any player can use their custom Shovel Knight saved onto their amiibo, or use classic Shovel Knight. It also has a ranking system like on Super Mario 3D World, where players are ranked depending on their score.
- 5 new challenge stages are unlocked, using the new features unlocked with the amiibo. On the Wii U version only, 5 co-op challenge stages are unlocked too.
The Shovel Knight amiibo looks amazing, and it adds tons of bonus features to Shovel Knight. It also will work with multiple games after Shovel Knight. More information is available at Yacht Club Games' website.
